To install FAMOUS on a machine with UM vn4.5 already installed.

1. Download and unpack famous_umui.tar.gz 

   This contains:
   * Job basis file (famous/basis)
   * STASHmaster files (famous/prestash)
   * Local post-processing scrips (famous/bin)

   - and should reside on the same machine as the UMUI. 

2. Download and unpack famous_mods.tar.gz

   This contains:
   * Script mods (famous/mods/scripts)
   * Model and Reconfiguration mods (famous/mods/source)

   - and needs to be on the machine on which you run the UM. 

3. Download and unpack famous_data.tar.gz

   This contains:
   * Start dumps for the atmosphere and ocean (famous/dumps)
   * Ancillary files for the atmosphere and ocean (famous/ancil)

   - and should also be on the machine which runs the UM.

4. Upload the basis file (basis_xcgga) into the UMUI.
   
5. Edit "User Information and Target Machine".

6. Edit "File & Directory Naming".

   This should reflect where your files are located.
   Ensure that:
   * DATA_DIR is the base output data directory for your jobs  
   * FAMOUS_MODS points to the mods directory from famous_mods.tar.gz
   * FAMOUS_ANCIL points to the ancil directory from famous_data.tar.gz
   * FAMOUS_DUMPS points to the dumps directory from famous_data.tar.gz

7. Edit "Post Processing -> Local Post-Processing scripts"

   Use the files in bin from famous_umui.tar.gz

8. Edit "Atmosphere -> STASH -> User STASHmaster files" and
        "Ocean -> STASH -> User STASHmaster files".
   
   Use the files in prestash from famous_umui.tar.gz
 
9. Edit "Ocean -> STASH -> Initialisation of User Prognostics"

   Enter the *full path* to the ancillary file qrparm.mask_sal.
   You may need to move the file to fit the path in the window.

10. If you are running on a machine other then HPCx, you will also need to 
   alter:
   
   * Script mods
   * Model & reconfiguration mods
   * Job submission and time limts
   * Archiving
