Testing & Validation

The “standard” FAMOUS job xcpsa now bit-compares across PE configurations, & restarts for short runs.

Testing & fixes
Test runs on HPCx, QUEST cluster and Hector
For latest standard jobs see FAMOUS Standard Versions
For earlier jobs (base Met Office run v HPCx) see HPCx Test Runs
The results of famous_transa2o, which checks the atmosphere to ocean coupling.

Running FAMOUS

Currently FAMOUS runs on HPCx and the quest cluster at Bristol.

Recently ported FAMOUS to Hector (pathscale compiler).

Debugging

Information for debugging FAMOUS:

Problems:

Modsets

We compiled a “clean” set of mods for adtan, removing several obsolete or Met Office-specific files.

MOSES 2.2 & Coastal Tiling

We now have MOSES 2.2 with coastal tiling technically working in FAMOUS.

Job xcnoh b/cs across pe configs and restarts for 3 day run with daily dumps. Tested 1×8, 2×2, 2×4 and 4×4. Job is std FAMOUS (xcpsb) with coastal tiling mods.

Diagnostics 3225, 3226, 3236 and 3237 occasionally contain INF/NaNs. Seems to be a scientific issue, which Robin will investigate
